24-26 June 2011 - Camping in Kessingland (near Lowestoft)

We went away camping for the first time as a family, so only went for a couple of days at first to see how things went. Charlie and Millie loved it and didn't want to go to sleep as they were having too much fun and the evenings were very light. By Sunday we were all rather tired, but a trip to Southwold ended our weekend away really well, especially as it is the setting for 'Sunnysands' (see Grandpa in My Pocket on CBeebies).

22 June - Charlie goes on a bakery trip with Jigsaw Playgroup.

Charlie went with his pre-school to visit North's Bakery in the village. Here he is watching how to make a roll, and then the finished product.

Friday 17 June - East of England Show

Charlie, Millie and Mummy went to visit the East of England show. We learnt all about farming and got to climb into big farm machines, hold baby chicks, milk cows, and find out about crops (the red tractor is pulling tubs of peas, beans, wheat, rape, barley etc). We also had fun cooking crumble, bouncing on bouncy castles and riding on fair ground rides (although the rain in the afternoon somewhat dampened our fun!).

11 June 2011 - Town and Country Show, Parker's Piece Cambridge

We took the park and ride bus to visit the Town and Country show. We watched a Punch and Judy show, a sheep show, and Suffolk Punch horses. We played on a bouncy castle/giant slide and had a ride on a small 'big wheel' that Charlie called 'the Cambridge Eye' because it looked a bit like the London Eye. Charlie and Millie got to sit on a big traction engine and saw the driver shovelling coal. Daddy, Charlie and Millie also got a ride on the trailer of a mini traction engine too. We then found a lovely mechanical organ and little people had fun dancing to the music while Mummy and Daddy had a sit down.

5 June 2011 - Hinxton Watermill

We cycled off in the afternoon to visit Hinxton Watermill. We liked looking at the all machinery working in the mill and the wheels turning all over the place. Charlie kept getting too distracted to look at the camera for any length of time!

3 June 2011 - Fairies and Elves day at Hatfield Forest

We went to Hatfield Forest today to look for fairies. We met up with Rosie, Jonas and Phil and wore our fairy costumes. During our visit we met a troll under a bridge, went to gnome school, made a map so the lost elf could get back to Santa and made magic wands. Here were are the start of the woodland trail in our costumes; eating our picnic; and having ice-creams after playing in the woods (Charlie just ate his quickly he wasn't left out!).

30 April - 7 May 2011 - Holiday in Broadstairs

Broadstairs holidayWe had a good time in Broadstairs with the Moore family, although Tim was suffering from a virus for half the week. We arrived during the bank holiday, and enjoyed the fun fair that was in town. We also had a lovely day out to Wingham Wildlife Park and saw lots of cute baby animals. Millie and Charlie liked the 'animals with holes'. We went to the beach most days and although it was rather windy at the beginning of the week it got lovely and warm by the end of the week. On the way home we stopped at Rochester Castle. There are some pictures here. (You can click on the pictures to see them bigger).

27 April - Visit to Audley End House with Granny and Grandad.

We met up with Granny Susan and Grandad Stephen for a picnic lunch at Audley End house. In the afternoon we played in the play area and rode in the wooden chariot. Then we explored the stables and dressed up as Victorians.

Easter 2011

We went to visit Nanny and Grandad for Easter. On Good Friday we had rides on Grandad's tractor mower, his little red tractor and Nanny's buggy. We also helped Nanny fish blanket weed out of the pond.

On Easter Saturday we visited Cadbury World. We ate lots of chocolate and Daddy found a chocolate London for us to look at.

On Easter Day we had an Easter Bunny hunt around the garden looking for little golden bunnies. Millie nibbled the ears on all hers while Charlie ate them one at a time. We also enjoyed just hanging out in the house, making beds on the sofa. In the afternoon we went to Warwick park and splashed in the paddling pool and played in the sand. Nanny and Daddy watched us playing.

On Monday we went to Hatton locks to see canal boats. We had ice-creams and Charlie offered round 'cakes' from his cakes hat. It was a good way of chatting up the girls!! Before going home Grandad took us for rides in the wheel barrow.

23 March 2011 - Charlie's 4th Birthday

What a beautiful sunny day. Millie and Mummy made Charlie's birthday cake while he was at pre-school this morning. After lunch Charlie and Millie played in the garden with his new quarry toy that Mummy and Daddy bought him. Later on we had a party tea with Granny Susan, Grandad Stephen, Auntie Ruth (Charlie's godmother), and friends Chrissie and her son Brian. It was so warm that we spent all afternoon in the garden and had a lovely time.

20 February - Rosie's birthday party

We all went to Rosie's Fairies and Elves party.

In case you don't watch children's TV and don't understand Charlie's costume - Charlie's and Millie's costumes are inspired from Ben and Holly's little kingdom. Unfortunately I could never get Millie to stand still looking at the camera with her wand and crown though.

Everyone had lots of fun.

17 February - Dressing up at Ragged Rascals

We went to Ragged Rascals (soft play) this afternoon and made Mummy laugh by dressing up in silly clothes and bouncing on the bouncy castle.

10 February - Mummy's birthday

We woke Mummy up by giving her her birthday cards, which she liked. We made butterfly cakes and iced cupcakes for Mummy's afternoon tea. We went to the Playdaze playbarn in Linton in the morning (the first time we've been) and had lots of fun. In the afternoon Mummy invited lots of her (and our) friends round to help eat cakes. It got rather manic with lots of playing and fun going on. At one point three little people all needed the potty so we had a row of them in the sitting room!!

30 January - lunch at Granny and Grandad's

We spent the day at Granny and Grandads and had lots of fun playing and exploring. Granny got out her lego technik, which entertained the boys. Charlie had lots of fun building machines all afternoon. After lunch Millie joined Daddy on the sofa and  tucked herself in for her 2 minute 'rest'. Annoyingly, she was much more refreshed afterwards. Thank you Granny for providing such yummy food for us, while sensibly doing as little cooking as possible so we had more play time with you.

19-23 January - Staying with friends in Penarth

We went to stay with Mummy's university friend Sarah, her husband Rhys and their childen Lucy and Luke who are around our age. They had loads of cool Brio and chunky lego they let us play with and we enjoyed playing with them. We also had some fun days because it didn't rain for our whole visit. We enjoyed Techniquest (a practical technology and science exhibition in Cardiff). Millie loved the water and Charlie has his head served up on a tray.  We also went to Penarth beach but the sea was too far away and beyond lots of thick gooey mud to be able to splash in it. We comforted outselves with yummy ice creams, which didn't melt too quickly because it was so cold outside! On the way home we stopped at Bristol to visit Auntie Penny and Uncle Tony and see their new house. Millie liked playing with their hippos.

2 January - Millie's birthday!

Millie is two today - Happy birthday! Millie opened her presents and cards this morning and Granny and Grandad came to lunch and bought Millie a new blue party dress. This afternoon lots of friends arrived and we had a lot of fun at Millie's party. We had a yummy birthday tea and Mummy made a Gruffalo cake. We played musical bumps and pass the parcel after tea and played and had lots of fun.

30 December - visit to Nanny and Grandad

We spent a few days at Nanny and Grandad's house and saw some of our relatives. We had lots of tea and mince pies and yummies but we didn't take many pictures. Here we are driving in the car together.

Christmas Day

We opened our stockings in the morning in Mummy and Daddy's bed. After breakfast we opened our presents and Nanny and Grandad arrived for the day. Gradad read Millie's new book to her while Mummy cooked Christmas dinner and it was very yummy (beef with Yorkshire pudding, red cabbage and veg). In the afternoon Rosie and Jonas and her family came over and stayed over.
