This is the Clapp family's news and pictures page

Charles (Charlie) and Emilia (Millie) Clapp live in Sawston with their Mummy and Daddy. We have cousins called Rosie and Jonas, who also have a webpage. Here are some pictures of the things we have been getting up to.

2 January 2012 - Millie's 3rd Birthday

Millie has finally turned three (although she didn't seem very keen about this and said she wanted to be four!). In the morning she opened her presents, including a brand new mini micro scooter from Mummy, Daddy and Charlie and 11 knitted tortoises from Granny!! Just before lunchtime her party guests and we all had a fun party with pizza, sausages, garlic bread, olives and carrot sticks for lunch. Then we had pinky-red jelly (as ordered by Millie) and finally the cake arrived. It was shaped like a cow and had three candles on it. After lunch we played pass the parcel and danced and had fun.

After Christmas we visited Nanny and Grandad. Auntie Penny, Uncle Tony and baby Matthew also stayed and we had fun playing with our new baby cousin. Nanny Pat let us decorate her Christmas cake and we made a very good job of it. On 30th some of Daddy's family came over to see us all. His (second?)-cousin Sarah, her son Flynn, her mum Pam and our great aunt Joy came to have some tea and mince pies.

Christmas 2011

We woke up on Christmas morning to find that Santa had filled our stockings and lots of presents had appeared under the tree. We opened our stockings in Mummy and Daddy's bed. Millie was thrilled to find that Santa had got her the Tinky Winky she has been on about for what seems like months! We had Granny, Grandad, Auntie Claudia, Auntie Phil, Uncle Andrew and cousins Rosie and Jonas over on the day for lunch and tea. It was a full house but everyone was in good spirits and a fun day was had.

12 December 2011

Charlie and Millie have been doing Christmas productions - Charlie was a soldier in his school play 'The Bossy King' and Millie sung some Christmas songs with the other children at Jigsaw Playgroup. However, taking picutres containing other children and publishing them is fairly restricted for obvious reasons. After singing her songs, Santa came to visit Millie and the other Jigsaw children. Here she is receiving her present.

19/20 November - Weekend in Bristol and meeting cousin Matthew for the first time.

On Saturday we went to Bristol and visited the SS Great Britain, which was a very big ship. We walked under it and saw the propeller. We walked inside it and found the dining room, and we looked in the museum and found some really good hats. Then we saw the Matthew, which is a bit of a smaller ship, but it did have a cannon. We then visited the Clifton Suspension Bridge before having dinner in a restaurant and stayed overnight in a hotel. The next morning we went to visit Auntie Penny, Uncle Tony and baby Matthew. We enjoyed taking him to the park and chatting to him in his bouncy chair. Millie liked stroking his hair too.

31 October 2011 - Halloween.

We went over to Rosie's house and Phil painted our faces. We then went out trick or treating and ate LOTS of sweets before bedtime. Charlie dressed up as a dragon, Millie a devil, Rosie a bat, Jonas a monster and Phil was a ghoul.

25 October 2011 - trip to Colchester Zoo with Phil, Rosie, Jonas, Granny Susan and Grandad Stephen.

It's half term and we had a lovely trip to Colchester Zoo. We all had a picnic together and played in the giant eggs as well as feeding giraffes, looking at animals, riding on trains, and playing in play areas.

21 October - visiting the pigs at the farm shop

Millie and El went to the Common Lane farm shop to buy some meat and found piglets running all over the place. Millie went over to say hello to the mummy pigs, who were all at the gate this morning waiting for breakfast, before going to root around in the straw.

October - various pictures.

Here are some pictures of us playing after school. Charlie took the photo of El and Millie (this was the one that had both of our heads!).

26 September - Playing Bingo

Millie has discovered a love of bingo after we found a set at a jumble sale and Mummy made some child-friendly bingo cards. Here she is drawing the numbers, while Piggy, Laa Laa, Winnie the Pooh and Sandy Bear (and Mummy) play the game. (Millie is helping the creatures).

8 September - Charlie's first day of school.

Charlie got dressed in his school uniform this morning and is off to school. He'll only be there for the mornings for the first two weeks and then he is at school all day. Doesn't he look smart!

17 August - Bressingham Steam Museum

We went to Bressingham Steam museum with Mummy's friend Joanie and baby Ethan. We rode on three different trains and the steam Carosel. Millie liked the train that went through the woods with toy animals in (especially the toy Tinky Winky - Joanie said that Millie would go into the woods to rescue him from the tree and take him home given half a chance!). Charlie liked watching the Carosel and Mummy liked the train ride through the countryside. Mummy brought our train whistles with us so we could toot along with the trains.

7 August - a trip punting.

A free day with the sun shining - so we decided to go punting. Daddy did most of the punting but Mummy had a bit of a go. Charlie liked watching the reflections on the water, Millie liked the yellow duckling, and both liked looking out for 'No Mooring' signs. Our punting trip inspired Charlie to draw a picture of our day out.

3 August - a trip to Wimpole on a very hot day with Mummy's friend Arieh

We met up with Mummy's university friend Arieh (who lives in London), and his children Eli (boy, 6), Rina (girl, 4) and Yoni (boy, 2). We had lots of fun and enjoyed stroking the rabbit in the barn and squirting water over the hot pigs. We fed the pigs and piglets and played on the tractors. Charlie liked the straw bale maze, and we spent a lot of time playing in the straw or sitting in the shade cooling down.

9-16 July 2011 - holiday in Nailsworth, Glos.

Tim took most of the photos, they are on his computer which is broken and has been for weeks (so none below yet). Here are pictures from our visit to Tim's cousin Mandy and her husband Rob's farm. We watched their cows being milked, saw baby calves and played on the telehandler (moving the arm and bibbing the horn). Earlier in our holiday we met up with Auntie Penny and Tony for lunch; and Tim's aunt Pam and Uncle Graham along with step-grandmother 'Auntie Betty' and Nanny Pat and Grandad David for the afternoon and a leisurely buffet lunch. It was nice to see everyone as we haven't met them for a long time. We also had some days out to Slimbridge Wildfowl reserve, Newark Park (National Trust house), and Stroud Museum and swimming pool.
