This is the Clapp family's news and pictures page

Charles (Charlie) and Emilia (Millie) Clapp live in Sawston with their Mummy and Daddy. We have cousins called Rosie and Jonas, who also have a webpage. Here are some pictures of the things we have been getting up to.

9 July 2012 - Sports Day

Today was Sports Day at the Bellbird School. Charlie (in Amethyst team, hence the purple t-shirt) undertook a number of different games/actitivites with his other team mates in a set time. Here we see him balancing a hoop while walking through the ladder, and hopping along with a ball between his legs. They finished the morning with running races. Afterwards, Jigsaw Playgroup had their sports day and Millie ran in the girls race (I have edited out the other children so you can't really see the whole race). They both did very good running and got a sticker.

6 July - East of England Show and Bellbird Primary School Fayre

Today we set off in all our wet weather gear to the East of England Show. It was actually good fun, we: saw a dog show; held chicks; played with seeds and grains and squeezed oil from rape seed; saw all the farm machines used in a year in one parade ring; made mini pizzas (and while they were cooking coloured in and cut out animal hats); saw heavy horses pulling old farm machines; played in lots of muddy puddles!; (Millie and Mummy) went on a helter skelter; looked at pigs, sheep and cows; patted some fox hounds; and stroked a baby little owl; and Charlie and Mummy went on a working steam carosel; and saw HRH Prince Charles; and we all ate ice cream, donuts, marshmallow chocolate things; sausage soup, picnic lunch and our home made pizzas (I am not sure why they look so sullen in the picture, they were very tasty!). When we got to the car we saw Prince Charles' helicopter taking off and leaving.

If that wasn't enough we came back to Sawston and visited the Bellbird School summer fair. Unfortunately it got rather washed out but not before Charlie and Millie went on yet another ride! When the sun broke through we got a wonderful double rainbow, which reflected in the wet playground rather nicely!

3 June - Jubilee costume competition in the Challis Garden

Although the rain put off some people, there were still an intrepid band of children in the Challis Garden in their 'Royal' fancy dress. Charlie changed his mind 10 minutes before we left the house that he now wanted to go as a soldier, so Eleanor had to quickly sew a felt collar and some buttons on one of Tim's t-shirts, while Tim found a black beanie to serve as a bearskin. Millie went as a fairy princess, with her home-made crown and drumstick wand. Neither won a main prize but everyone got a mug and a book about the Queen, so they were all winners really.

26 May - dressing up

Charlie and Millie raided the dressing up basket today. Charlie is dressed as I am not sure what (he has a dragon's tail, black wig, hat, and a witches dress). Millie just has fairy wings and a blue crayon 'wand' but she looks cute.

14 May - finally a warm day!

Here are little ones eating ice cream as it was a warm day and the ice cream stopped by our road. I think Millie enjoyed hers a lot!

12 May - Jonas' 2nd Birthday - Audley End Railway

Cousin Jonas was two a few days ago and so all the family, including Granny, Grandad and Auntie Claudia met up at Audley End for a day out. Luckily the bad weather finally ended and we had a lovely sunny day. More pictures can be found at Jonas' webpage.

16 April - Bears' Vegetable Show

Charlie (having watched the Curse of the Were Rabbit a few days beforehand) insisted we were going to have a vegetable show at our house. The fridge was stocked with all sorts of interesting veg, and each creature could choose something to bring to the show. Charlie wrote labels for each one so everyone knew what they were. Here are some pictures.

Thursday 12 April - playing with the 'chicks'

Millie and Charlie were playing in the garden and wanted to see the chicks. I managed to get a snap of Millie giving a chick a cuddle, although the chick wasn't too impressed!!

Saturday 31 March - playing hockey and visiting Botanic Garden

Today was Daddy's last hockey game of the season so we went along to see him play and have a go ourselves. Charlie, Millie and Tim all pushed a ball around a bit before the game started. After a little while watching the hockey game, we got a bit bored and went to visit the Botanic Garden as it was a lovely sunny day. We explored the rock garden, found the blossom trees and looked at the 'magic fairy fountain' as Charlie called it.

Saturday 24 March - Birthday Outing to London

As Charlie's birthday treat we went to London to go on a trip on the London Eye (he has wanted to go for months and months). We went down on the train and Charlie and Millie went on the tube for the first time. After our ride on the Eye, we had a picnic lunch and then got a bus to Regent Street and went to Hamleys. We looked for things that Charlie might want to spend his birthday money on, and for a present from Mummy and Daddy. We eventually found some good toys to buy but we all had fun looking around and playing with toys. We took a couple of buses back to Liverpool Street and then got the bus home. We we arrived home, John and Ruth arrived with yet another birthday present. We shared a slice of birthday cake with them before heading off to bed, rather tired!

Friday 23 March - Charlie's 5th Birthday

Charlie's birthday today. He opened a few presents in the morning, and after school he had a few school friends round for a party tea. Before tea everyone played in the garden. At tea time everyone ate and behaved very well. Charlie had a solar system cake (with a train going across holding the candles?!). After tea there was an easter egg hunt in the garden and we played pass the parcel in Charlie and Millie's bedroom, and Charlie could show off his new disco ball he got from Mummy, Daddy and Millie that morning. The party ended with everyone being silly in bunk beds and/or dancing in the bedroom.
