25 January - Visit from Auntie Claudia

My auntie Claudia came to visit. We all had fun being silly dressing me in slippers and I got lots of cuddles so Mummy was able to get some extra rest (especially needed after I had been rather unsettled for the previous two nights).

21 January 2009 - being more awake

Having spent nearly 3 weeks sleeping all day save for a few hours, I have decided there are things to look at in the day, which are very interesting. There are also two little elephants visiting our house, which Charlie has shown me. Here I am with Pom and Maple, and looking cute and stripey.

14 January 2009 - putting on weight

I am now 12 days old and was weighed again this morning. I am now 2.9kg or 6lb 7oz, so I have put on a fair bit of weight, which pleases Mummy. We also went to register by birth and get my birth certificate this morning; and I now have a middle name - Sophie. I am starting to get the idea of not being awake at night, but I do like to sleep a lot during the day too. Over the last few days I have been having fun reading with Charlie and Mummy, pulling silly faces and playing on my baby gym (see pictures below):

4 January 2009

I have been having lots of visitors over the first few days of my life.  I didn't sleep too well on my first night of life, but my second night was much better and Mummy and Daddy are feeling a bit better after a quiet day yesterday. All my Grandparents have now been to visit as well as Auntie Phil, Uncle Andrew and cousin Rosie (and Rosie's Nana Dorothy). Here is a picture of me with Granny on my first day; me in my new basket, made specially for me by Owen Jones; and me with Nanny at 3 days old.

Here I am with Mummy and Daddy at just a few hours old.

Birth Story - El went into labour at about midnight. At about 2 am we set up the birth pool and the midwife came round at about 3ish. Things progressed fairly slowly and calmly all night (not any quicker than the first time worse luck). I needed the entonox at about 6 am but the birth pool, breathing and Tim's warm hands had provided enough relief until then. Eventually little Emilia was ready to put in an appearence and came out quite quickly thereafter. It was great to be able to stay at home and be able to relax at home so soon after Emilia's arrival. Millie has been fairly calm, not cried too much and has fed very well in her short life so far. This is me in the birth pool in the dining room at about 7am looking very chilled out with the gas and air. The midwives and Tim between them had cleared up and emptied the pool and had the dining room back to normal by mid morning!!
