Hertfordshire Basketry

I live in south London, and have been making baskets for some
years. I learnt willow basketmaking at evening
classes, and still enjoy it, particularly willow sculpture,
though I've only done a little of that.
Since doing the City and Guilds course, I have also been interested in
coiling and plaiting. I find I mostly respond to the interest
of the materials themselves, either the texture or colour, and I like
using unusual materials like plastic film (shrink wrap) or shredded
newspaper. My baskets are almost always containers, though
not necessarily practical ones.
