The Hertfordshire Basketry group was set up in 2004 by a group of enthusiastic basketmakers, having completed their City & Guilds in basketmaking. After making enquiries, they found a number of basketmakers in the Hertfordshire area keen to share knowledge and experience and to meet like-minded craftspeople. 

The group aims to develop the skills of basketry and basket making in the Hertfordshire area through raising awareness of the range of different techniques and materials available within the craft of basketry, and to develop learning and skills at regular workshops, meetings and exhibitions. The membership is open to all and the group encourages the exchange of ideas and techniques between designers and makers in different crafts, (including basketry, jewelery, architecture, constructed textiles and weaving).

Many of the Group's members are also member of The Basketmakers Association
