Hertfordshire Basketry
Stella Harding
I studied art and design in the
late 1960s and have always enjoyed making things but I only started
making baskets in 2001 when I joined the City and Guilds Creative
Basketry course at the City Lit. In 2007 I completed the Part Two
Diploma in Creative Basketry. I enjoy using a variety of
different materials and different basketry techniques, including:
coiling; plaiting; twining; and stake and strand, but my main interest
is transforming natural materials to create abstract sculptural
forms which explore the relationships between line, space,
texture and mark making.
My inspiration comes from many sources including both rural and urban landscapes, calligraphy and textiles.
I would be happy to accept commissions for one-off pieces and to run workshops or community based projects.
